Administrative historyRobert Broome (1920-2008) was apprenticed as a shipwright to Charles Hill & Sons at Cumberland Basin, Bristol, then trained as a diver whilst stationed on Malta during World War Two. Upon his return he worked for the Port of Bristol Authority as both a shipwright and diver from 1945 to 1985.
