DescriptionApart from the first letter, dated 12 July 1749 (when Edward Southwell was only 11) these were all written after his father's death in 1755. They express interest in his concerns, and the people he is meeting, describe the everyday incidents in her life, and the people she meets, and contain passing references to shortage of money, and trouble in Kinsale and the elections there.
During the summer of 1755 Edward was trvelling in the north of England, and Scotland, but was in Cambridge (Pembroke Hall) by November.
