TitleRecords of the Southwell and Russell families, Barons De Clifford
Date1555-1990s
DescriptionSee also 42725 for further records of the same families, deposited through a different branch of the family.

These items were held in the posession of The Rt Hon Lord De Clifford at Riggledown, Tiverton. Many of the records are those included in the Royal Commission on Historical Manuscripts report of 1998. The papers appear to have passed from Harriet, Lady De Clifford, widow of Edward Southwell Russell (the 23rd Baron). On the death of her son (the 24th Baron) she became guardian of of her grandson Jack Southwell Russell (the 25th baron) aged 10. When Harriet died, guardianship passed to her daughter Maud, ending when her nephew became of age. The papers were then passed from Maud to her niece Sybil Browne (nee Corbet) who transcribed some of the correspondence, and then passed the papers on to the present Lord De Clifford.

The records mostly comprise personal papers, including some relating to the family home for some time, namely Kings Weston House
