Administrative historyJ N Davey was born on 25 January 1918 in Blackmoor, Hampshire. He moved to Bristol circa 1938 whereupon he became a member of the Territorial Army, based at Whiteladies Road, Bristol. The TA regiment converted from the 4th Gloucestershire Regiment to the 66th (Gloucesters) Searchlight Regiment RA (Royal Artillery) in August 1940. The diaries and photo albums in this collection detail the sorties made with the regiment to the Middle East including tours of Egypt and Syria, where he served as a Captain, between 1942 and 1944. He married Joyce Elizabeth Gardner ('Twink') in 1941. He lived the rest of his life in the Bristol area and died in Bristol in 2006.
