Administrative history | The Rapier Players was formed by Ronald Russell who married leading lady Peggy Ann Wood in 1937 and together ran the group. The Rapier Players managed the Little Theatre at the Colston Hall for 28 years from 1935 until 1963 when the theatre was taken over by the Bristol Old Vic and the group was wound up. The leftover money was used to set up a scholarship for the benefit of University of Bristol drama students. Ronald Russell died in 1994 and Peggy Ann Wood in 1998. |
